Healing Basket
Healing Basket picture

This Wasco Sally Bag, made using the full-turn twine technique to make geometric figures and motifs, was inspired by a Wasco basket collected by Lewis and Clark in 1805. The petroglyph faces are all connected by a geometric border symbolizing fishing nets. A red cotton string holds a crystal onto the basket. Red is a spiritual color, and the crystal helps heal, in the after math of the American migrants. The Wasco people lived along the Columbia River for more than 11,00 years. The red, white, and blue bottom honors our young people in the President's war.
waxed linen, cotton thread, crystal. 9" tall, 5.25" diameter.
