This Wasco Sally Bag is made using the full-turn twine technique to make geometric figures and motifs. The Wasco people lived along the Columbia River for more than 11,00 years.
Woven with many colors, this piece is both unique and more challenging. The images on this contemporary basket portray a professional Yuppie Indian Couple. As a contrast, there is a traditional couple on the opposite side. Contemporary airplane images contrast with condors, once common in the Columbia Gorge. The red, white, and blue bottom honors our young people in the President's war.
The Smithsonian National Museum Of The American Indian commisioned a similar piece from Pat Courtney Gold for their collection.
