The Continuity Of Petroglyphs
The Continuity Of Petroglyphs picture

This Wasco Sally Bag is made using the full-turn twine technique to make geometric figures and motifs. The Wasco people lived along the Columbia River for more than 11,00 years. The petroglyph images have been with the Wasco since time immemorial. Woven with many colors, this piece is both unique and more challenging. The red, white, and blue background symbolizes the coming of the US, a mere 200 years ago. This basket shows the continuation of Wasco culture and images. The images on this basket include a petroglyph face, mountain goat, condor, and sturgeon. Sturgeon are symbols of strenght and long life. The red, white, and blue bottom honors our young people in the President's war.
